Group Threatens to Withdraw Support for Jonathan over PDP Crisis

1502F06.Goodluck-Jonathan.jpg - 1502F06.Goodluck-Jonathan.jpgThe Peoples Democratic Party Core Supporters Network (PCSN) has given President Goodluck Jonathan up to October 30, 2013 to resolve the internal crisis rocking the party or lose the support of its entire members.
The Network National Secretary, Mr. Mohammed Al-jameel Hashidu told the press in Bauchi yesterday that in resolving the party crisis, President Jonathan should adhere to the Constitution of the PDP, as well as  rule of law.
“We resolved to withdraw our support for President Goodluck Jonathan if by 30th October the lingering internal crisis in the PDP is not resolve, he should consider losing our support for him”, Network said.
Hashidu said Jonathan should similarly consider the country as his constituency and stop listening to his aides playing politics of reprisal, intimidation, rascality, rancour and molestation which, he described, as dangerous to the survival of the country.
The network demanded for the “Immediate recall of Governor Amaechi from suspension and his recognition as chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and the immediate removal of Bamanga Tukur, the embattled Chairman of the PDP to give peace a change.”
According to them, there should be no automatic ticket for the offices of the President and Governors as being proposed by the PDP BoT Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih, as it stressed the need for free, fair, credible and transparent primary elections at all levels.
“These are the roadmap to peace, it’s a question of give and take, make the primaries more democratic, allow for popular participation in the primaries, if Musa, Joseph, Haruna, Dalong want to contest, allow them to contest alongside with you so that you test your ability and performance,” it posited.
The Network Secretary said however that at the expiration of the ultimatum if the conditions were not met, the PDP core supporters would have no option than to move to the new PDP and forge ahead.
Al-jameel further observed that the crisis in the PDP was a cause for concern for any ardent supporter of the party especially the core-supporters whom, he said, were foot soldiers for Jonathan re-election 2015.
