The Benue State Police Command has arrested nine persons in connection with the killing of a 22-year-old university drop-out at the Kan shio area of Makurdi last Tuesday.
The victim, Terngu Uma, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Daniel Ezeala, was allegedly hacked down at a drinking joint at about 10 pm by suspected cultists.
He explained that the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Apir, while investigation into the killing was also ongoing.
Also, the PPRO disclosed that three persons were arrested for torching some houses in Mbaivende village in Ushongo Local Government area of the state.
Ezeala told Daily Sun that last Wednesday, at about 8:30 pm, three huts belonging to one Ikyobo Toribi, were allegedly set ablaze by the suspects simply identified as Chia, Lazarus and Ashwe.
He said that the matter was under investigation, adding that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
In another development, the PPRO said 12 persons were arrested during the Sallah celebration for contravening the 8pm motorcycle movement restriction in the state.
Ezeala, who also said 17 motorcycles were impounded during the period stated that the arrested persons would be charged to court after investigation.
